NBLA PROGRAM INFORMATION

The New Breed Life Arts and Educational Association, Inc. (NBLA) provides youth, ages 2-85, with a supportive environment and the kinds of challenges necessary to constructively develop moral consciousness, and to develop responsible and success-driven adolescents and young adults. It is a multi-disciplinary, successful and comprehensive nurturing program that aspires to divert under-served children away from anti-social, violent, destructive behaviors so often associated with children from lower income populations. New Breed is dedicated to “Stop the Violence” and change lives with positive results for children and their families.

The program was established in the mid-1970s when youth violence and death rates had reached phenomenal proportions in New York City’s lower income communities. In one Harlem neighborhood alone it was determined that more than 400 children, adolescents and young adults had lost their lives because of crimes committed by their peers. Many attributed this wave of lawlessness and violence to the poverty among the residents and the despair and lack of self-esteem that was perceived endemic to the lifestyles of inner city youth.

The New Breed Program provides employment and hands on skills development. In addition, the New Breed provides for youth, adults and seniors, training in self-control, self-discipline, meditation, martial arts classes, physical fitness, and self-defense to build confidence and strengthen awareness. It offers other programs of inspiration and cultural instruction, as well, and accentuates the fact that education is the key to a successful future.

The New Breed works hard to support efforts to eliminate childhood obesity. In communities with historically high rates of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, alcoholism, and substance abuse, the New Breed’s philosophy emphasizes teaching youngsters to eat properly to enhance the quality of life.

The New Breed also works with other Community Organizations to combat Crime and Promote Literacy, one child at a time, one family at a time-to change lives and save lives plus guarantee prosperity, family and cultural awareness, and leaders for generations to come.

The New Breed Life Arts & Educational Association, Inc. is a 501c3 not for profit organization. The New Breed Life Arts & Educational Association, Inc. (NBLA) is more than Martial Arts. It is Mental and Physical Education-A Social Safety Fitness Program.
